If you have found out you are pregnant and this has been confirmed by a positive pregnancy test, you can now self refer directly to the midwife without seeing a GP first.

It is recommended to take Folic Acid for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Vitamin D is also recommended throughout pregnancy.

You can obtain a maternity exemption certificate from your surgery, your midwife or online through the NHS website for free prescriptions whilst pregnant and for 12 months afterwards.
