Cervical Cancer Prevention Week
Cervical Cancer Prevention Week is an important opportunity to raise awareness of how cervical cancer can be prevented and detected early.
Regular cervical screening (smear tests) is one of the most effective ways to prevent cervical cancer. Screening checks for high-risk HPV, which can cause changes to cervical cells. Finding these changes early means they can often be treated before cancer develops.
The HPV vaccination also plays a vital role in prevention and is routinely offered to children and young people, helping protect against the most common types of HPV.
If you are invited for cervical screening, we encourage you to attend—even if you feel well or have no symptoms. Our clinical team is here to make the appointment as comfortable and supportive as possible.
If you have questions about cervical screening, the HPV vaccine, or your individual risk, please contact the practice for advice and support.
