World Parkinson’s Day – Supporting Our Patients and Community
World Parkinson’s Day, marked each year on 11 April, is an important opportunity to raise awareness of Parkinson’s and to support those living with the condition, as well as their families and carers.
Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition that affects movement. Common symptoms include tremor, stiffness, and slowness of movement, but it can also impact mood, sleep, and overall wellbeing. While there is currently no cure, early diagnosis and the right support can make a significant difference to quality of life.
At our practice, we are committed to providing compassionate, ongoing care for patients with Parkinson’s. We work closely with specialist teams, including neurologists, physiotherapists, and Parkinson’s nurses, to ensure patients receive holistic and personalised care.
How we can help:
- Review and manage symptoms and medication
- Provide referrals to specialist services
- Offer support for mental health and wellbeing
- Signpost to local and national support groups
When to seek advice:
If you or a loved one are experiencing symptoms such as persistent tremor, stiffness, or changes in movement, please contact the practice. Early assessment is important.
Supporting someone with Parkinson’s:
Living with Parkinson’s can be challenging, but support is available. Small adjustments, understanding, and access to the right resources can help individuals maintain independence and quality of life.
On this World Parkinson’s Day, we encourage our community to learn more about Parkinson’s, show support, and help reduce stigma around the condition.
If you have any concerns or would like more information, please get in touch with our team.
Together, we can make a difference.
