Wednesday – Hospital Discharge
We’ll highlight the importance of well-managed hospital discharge and ensuring that people leaving hospital have individualised nutritional care plans where needed.
Thursday – Thirsty Thursday
While nutrition and hydration go hand in hand, hydration often gets less attention.💧 We’ll share resources on the importance of hydration, practical tips to improve fluid intake, and ways to address challenges such as dysphagia.
Friday – Every Contact Counts
Every interaction matters. Whether you’re a pharmacist, nurse, GP, social care worker, AHP, dentist, or doctor, each contact is an opportunity to identify and address malnutrition risk.🤝 We encourage multidisciplinary teams to screen systematically and raise awareness across all care settings.
The Weekend – Highlights & Nutrition Superheroes
We’ll wrap up the week with highlights, key resources, and inspiring stories.🌟 Nominate your #NutritionSuperhero – someone who goes above and beyond to support good nutritional care. Share your nominations on social media using the hashtag #NutritionSuperhero.
Campaign Focus: Ask, Look, Listen
Malnutrition is everyone’s business.By taking time to Ask, Look, and Listen, we can all help spot the early signs and make a difference.
Ask
If someone may be vulnerable – perhaps because of health issues, age, or isolation – ask how they’re managing with eating and drinking. Simple questions about appetite or meal preparation can make a big difference.
Look
Keep an eye out for signs such as looser clothing, loose belts, rings, or dentures. You may also notice empty fridges or cupboards, or someone avoiding trips out – all possible indicators of poor nutrition.
Listen
Pay attention to what people say about their lives.Comments about feeling tired, lonely, or losing interest in daily activities may suggest they’re struggling to eat or drink well.Practice active listening and consider how their wellbeing affects their nutrition.
